Location & Area

Mentioned in the Doomsday book in 1086, Crondall is a conservation village with a wealth of charming listed buildings and a 12th century Norman church which has been referred to as the “Cathedral of North Hampshire”. We are surrounded by beautiful countryside with many interlinking public footpaths. On the doorstep is Farnham (3.7 miles ), a very pretty town with its wide and elegant Georgian Castle Street and home to the University of Creative Arts.  In the town there are a good range of shops and a varied choice of restaurants. The Maltings, a centre for Culture and Arts (www.farnhammaltings.com) has a regular programme of events including concerts and Craft fairs. Farnham has a main line rail link to London Waterloo (1 hr). The University town of Guildford (14 miles) and Winchester (29 miles) are easily accessible by car. Junction 5 of the M3 is just 5 miles away. If you wish to visit nearby, neighbouring villages/small towns are: Hook (6 miles); Odiham (4.9 miles); Fleet (3.6 miles); Farnborough (7.1 miles); Alton (11 miles).

 

We are ideally situated for the following wedding/conference venues:  Bury Court (3.7 miles);  Northbrook Park (4.3 miles); Farnham House (4.3 miles); Farnham Castle (3.4 miles). We are also close to Farnborough Air Show (6 miles);  Lord Wandsworth College (3.4 miles); and RAF Odiham (3.7 miles); Goodwood (32 miles);  Gilbert White's house and garden, Selbourne (15 miles);  the house of Jane Austen (13 miles); West Green House with its opera and other musical events just outside Hartley Wintney (7.8 miles); a National Trust Property, The Vyne (15 miles)

 

The NATTA training centre for the building Industry in Rye Common Lane, is 1.4 miles..

 

King Alfred's Way/South England Cycle Trail passes by 2 miles away. We can provide a secure area for bikes overnight. 

 

The Basingstoke canal is 1.5 miles away, providing lovely walks and cycling, with nature at its best.  There are historical features on its banks including second world war tank traps and pill boxes. Adjacent to the tow path closer to Odiham is the ruin of Odiham Castle (13th century). Along the way are some lovely Hampshire pubs to provide refreshments.

 

We especially welcome European and overseas visitors who find Crondall a useful base for the last few, or first few days of their holidays, as we are about 1.5 - 2 hours from the channel ports of Dover and Folkestone. Heathrow (24 miles) and Gatwick (30 miles, are readily accessible.
